Released Confidential Items
The Local Government Act 1999 specifies that Council and Committee meetings be held in a public place, however on occasion, this principle is outweighed by the need to keep the information or discussion confidential.
Where Council decides that it is necessary to keep an agenda item confidential this is recorded in a Register. Items are then released from confidence due to the designated timeframe for the confidential order lapsing, or a decision by Council (or the Chief Executive Officer under delegation) releasing the item.
