Hard waste and mattress collection
City of Campbelltown residents are entitled to one free hard waste collection and one free mattress collection per financial year (1 July to 30 June).
This includes:
- one hard waste collection of up to 2 cubic metres (approximately 2m long x 1m wide x 1m high, equivalent to a standard trailer load)
- one mattress collection, which may include a mattress and/or ensemble
This service is available to residential households only and is not applicable to commercial properties or non-residents of the City of Campbelltown.
Bookings are required and can be made through East Waste. Bookings must be made in advance, and wait times may vary depending on demand and time of year.
Please do not place items on the kerbside without a confirmed booking. Items placed on private property will not be collected.
Hard waste items placed out on the verge without a booking or earlier than 24 hours before a confirmed collection date will be considered illegal dumping and may incur a fine.
Before booking your collection, consider whether your unwanted items are still in good condition. If so, donating or rehoming them for reuse is encouraged.

For a detailed list of what can and cannot be accepted as hard waste, visit the East Waste website.
For items that cannot be placed in hard waste collections, such as televisions, computers, and household chemicals, residents can use Council’s free drop-off facilities for safe disposal.
More information on disposing tricky or unusual waste items can be found here.
If some of your hard waste items were left behind, there may be a reason why they could not be collected.
- Check for a collection notice. If East Waste collected some items but left others, there should be a notice explaining why. If you did not receive a notice, please contact East Waste for further information.
- Check the amount of waste. Items may have been left behind if your hard waste exceeded the maximum collection allowance.
- Check whether items are accepted. Some materials cannot be collected as part of the hard waste service. These include carpet, bean bags, timber containing nails, hazardous waste and other unsuitable items. Visit the East Waste website for the full list.
- Find the correct disposal option. Use the Which Bin guide or the Tricky Waste directory to find out where these items can be taken. Disposal fees may apply at some facilities.
- Remove any uncollected items promptly. Do not leave items on the kerb after your collection. Waste left on the kerb may be considered illegal dumping and could result in enforcement action or a fine.
