Capture the Moment Photo Competition

Entries open Monday 10 March 2025 to Friday 11 April 2025

The Capture the Moment Photo Competition aims to grow the Campbelltown Local History Collection, capturing aspects of our City as it looks today and encouraging donations of historic photos for future generations.

2025 Competition theme

The buildings and structures of an era can tell amazing stories. This year, we are seeking present-day photos that capture our City’s architectural gems.

How to enter

Capture a photo of the beauty of a historic building or structure that is within the City of Campbelltown.

Key criteria for each photo are:

  • The main subject in your image should be a historic building or structure. People should not be included in the photo.
  • The subject must be a historic building or structure located within the City of Campbelltown.
  • Photos must be taken within two (2) years of the submission date.
  • The entry must be an original photograph.
  • Entries must be original digital photographs in JPG format.
  • Images must be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 10MB, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and at least 2,000 px on the longest edge.
  • Images should not include added text, watermarks, logos or any other branding (e.g. name, date, business logo).
  • Images may be edited in post-production to correct common photography factors like cropping, sharpness, colour, tone, contrast, and lens corrections.
  • All editing and post-production tasks must be completed by the entrant.

Complete the entry form and attach your photo. Be sure to tell us as much as you can about the photograph, including details of what is in the photograph, when and where it was taken, and any interesting or funny stories related to it. The more information, the better!

All entries will be displayed in the Gallery at Campbelltown Library from Thursday 1 May to Saturday 31 May 2025, as a part of South Australia's History Festival.

Winners and prizes

Winners will be selected by a 'People's Choice Award', where the public will select their favourite photo from the submissions in each category. Voting will take place from Thursday 1 May to Saturday 31 May 2025.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 4 June 2025 on the Campbelltown Library Facebook page. Winners will be notified via email sent to their registered email addresses on Tuesday 10 June 2025.

There are two prize categories:

  • 15 years and under
  • 16 years and over.

Each category offers the  following prizes:

  • 1st Prize: $100 book voucher
  • 2nd Prize: $50 book voucher.

Entries

  • The competition is free to enter.
  • The entrant must be the photographer, or have permission from the photographer, to enter the photograph into the competition.
  • All entries must include a description or a story for the image and detail the location, photographer’s name and date the photo was taken.
  • Entries must be original photographs.
  • A copy of each photograph entered in the competition will be retained in the Campbelltown Library Local History Collection.
  • Employees of the City of Campbelltown and their children may enter the competition and have their photograph displayed, but they are not eligible for prizes.
  • Entries, including the fully completed and signed application form, must be submitted before 5 pm Friday 11 April 2025 via the online form.
  • There is a limit of one entry per photographer.
  • All eligible photos entered in the 2025 Capture the Moment Photo Competition will be exhibited in the Gallery of the Campbelltown Public Library during May 2025.
  • The Campbelltown Library will retain the right to freely use the photograph and supporting information for the purpose of researching, inclusion in the Campbelltown Library Local History collection and use in marketing materials, displays and publications.
  • By submitting an entry form, entrants acknowledge they have read and agreed to the competition terms and conditions.

Image requirements

  • Photographs must have been taken within the City of Campbelltown.
  • Entries should be submitted in jpg format.

Judging and prizes

  • Winners will be determined via the People’s Choice Award, with the public selecting their top photograph from the entries for each of the two categories.
  • The decision of the voting public is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Winners will be contacted via email on Tuesday 10 June. If a winner has not collected their prize within 14 business days, the prize will be reallocated.
