E-bike and cargo bike rebates
The City of Campbelltown’s e-bike initiative is funded through Council’s Climate Solutions budget assists residents to shift from car trips to electric bicycles (e-bike) and cargo bikes aiming to reduce emissions and make everyday transport more affordable and convenient.
What is being offered?
Eligible residents of the City of Campbelltown can receive a rebate of 20% of the purchase price up to $400 for the purchase of an e-bike or $500 for the purchase of a cargo bike (electric or non-electric).
- The rebate is offered post-purchase and is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
- Each household can claim one rebate.
- Applicants must not have received a rebate from a previous year’s program
- Bikes purchased must comply with South Australian Road rules and e-bike regulations.
- Bikes must have been purchased on or after 5 September 2026.
- Bikes that are primarily designed or intended for sport or competition use will be deemed ineligible for the rebate.
What is an E-bike or cargo bike?
An e-bike is a bicycle equipped with a battery-powered motor that assists your pedalling, making it easier to ride up hills, travel longer distances, or commute without breaking a sweat.
A cargo bike is designed to carry heavy loads or passengers, often featuring an extended frame, large storage compartments, or even child seats—perfect for families, deliveries, or anyone swapping car trips for pedal power.
What type of bikes are not eligible?
- High-powered or non-compliant e-bikes (over 250w motor, throttle-controlled, exceeding 25 km/h).
- Off-road-only bikes or those intended primarily for sport/competition.
- Accessories such as helmets, locks, or trailers.

What assistance is available?
Rebate amounts
- E-bike: The purchase of an e-bike is eligible for out-of-pocket expenses to 20% of the purchase price up to $400.
- Cargo bicycle (electric or non-electric): The purchase of a cargo bike is eligible for out-of-pocket expenses to 20% of the purchase price up to $500.
Who can apply?
- Applicants must be a resident of the City of Campbelltown (proof of residency required).
- Only one rebate per household is permitted.
- Applicants must not have received an e-bike rebate through the current or a previous year’s program
How do I apply?
- Choose and purchase an eligible e-bike or cargo bike.
- Keep your receipt/invoice (ensure it lists the model of the bike and your full name).
- Complete the Council’s online application form and upload the required documents, including proof of residency (e.g. driver’s licence, rates notice, utility bill).
- Once assessed and approved, your rebate will be transferred to your nominated bank account.
Applications close
Applications will close on 30 June 2027 or when funding has been exhausted.

No, proof of purchase will need to be dated after the commencement of the rebate (Saturday 5 September 2026).
If your application includes a receipt that does not have your name on it you will also need to attach proof that you purchased the item(s), such as a bank statement showing your name and the purchase (feel free to blank out anything else not relevant). Purchases made with cash and no valid identification or proof of purchase will not be approved.
