Small Business Friendly Council
We proudly joined the 'Small Business Friendly Council' initiative by first signing the Small Business Friendly Council Charter on 6 October 2020 and reconfirming this commitment by signing the renewed Charter on 25 July 2025. This initiative, from the Office of the Small Business Commissioner, aims to strengthen our connection with local small businesses.
We are committed to supporting local small businesses and encourage them to engage with us. Our commitment aligns with our Economic Development Plan, focusing on boosting the local economy and job opportunities to make the city an attractive place for people to live and work.
The Small Business Friendly Council Charter Agreement outlines that we are committed to:
- Pillar 1: Payment terms
Pay small business suppliers in accordance with the specified payment terms of each contract but not exceeding 15 days of receipt of a correct invoice, goods or services from the supplier (whichever is the later). If a commercial discount is offered for payment within a specified period, payment must occur within that period. - Pillar 2: Resolution of disputes
Support effective resolution of disputes between businesses and Council to maintain strong local business relationships (with the option to use the Small Business Commission SA’s Small Business Friendly Council expedited alternative dispute resolution process where appropriate). - Pillar 3: Red tape reduction for small business
Continuous improvement through innovation and collaboration to identify and address unnecessary red tape.
Mayor Jill Whittaker said it was more important than ever for Council to show its support to local businesses:
'We are committed to making it easier for small businesses across the City to do business with us and with others, and to strengthen our ongoing support to the hundreds of Campbelltown’s small businesses who help make our city an amazing place'.
Chief Executive Officer Paul Di Iulio agreed: 'In addition to our commitment to the Small Business Friendly Council Initiative, Council has introduced a range of COVID-19 support initiatives for businesses, and has also recently established an ongoing annual Small Business Grants program aimed at helping new and established businesses in Campbelltown to grow and thrive'.
