Child Friendly Campbelltown

"We should value children as they might have a great idea!" local resident, aged 7.

We couldn't agree more! Council is committed to work with children to understand how they see their community and how they can help shape what it’s like - this is at the heart of Child Friendly Campbelltown. That's why we've worked together with children from our community to develop our Children's Policy, aimed at addressing the needs of children aged 0-12 years.

We have developed a Children’s Plan which is like a promise from the Council to help children and families. It has 4 themes which  focus on connection, play, neighbourhood, and kids' voices.

We figured out these themes by talking to children, asking questions, watching, and doing surveys and workshops. We also looked at research, data, and what the government says about children to develop our Children’s Plan Background Paper 2024.

Council was recognised by UNICEF Australia as a Child Friendly City in 2015, demonstrating our commitment to children’s active participation, belonging, outdoor play, safety, education and health. Child Friendly Campbelltown is about children being valued as citizens.
