Land divisions and zoning
Land divisions
Land division includes:
- the alteration of the boundaries of land
- the division of land into one or more allotments.
Subdividing land requires a step-by-step process from planning the physical boundaries through to changing the legal ownership and titles.
To find out more about land divisions, visit the Land Services SA website or consult with a land surveyor.
Is my block of land suitable for subdivision?
Minimum block sizes are set by the State Government’s Planning and Design Code.

Land use zones
Every part of South Australia is zoned to guide the types of development that are and aren’t appropriate.
Different areas of the City of Campbelltown are zoned for different uses, such as residential, industrial or open space. Each zone contains a set of development policies about what types of uses are encouraged, and requirements around design features like the building height, carparking and landscaping.
Land use zoning is determined by the State Government’s Planning and Design Code.
