Safe disposal of recalled coloured sand

A national recall has been issued for coloured play sand products following the detection of trace asbestos.

While the risk of airborne exposure has been assessed as low, the sand must be treated and disposed of as asbestos.

If you have this sand at home, please follow the official guidance provided by SafeWork SA.

Safe disposal information:

The sand must not be placed in household bins.
Council’s TV, computer and household chemical waste facility is not able to accept asbestos.
The nearest approved drop-off site is Metro Waste, 19/25 Murray Street, Thebarton.

Please handle the material with care and ensure it is taken to an appropriate asbestos disposal facility to protect your household and community.
