2,200 seedlings planted for National Tree Day
Another 60 seedlings went home with attendees to continue the planting beyond the Reserve.
The day was about much more than planting. Uncle Ivan-Tiwu Copley welcomed attendees with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony and shared his knowledge of Country, while Animals Anonymous introduced us to some incredible native wildlife. Habitat Connection Co. helped attendees decorate plant guards, adding a colourful and personal touch to the new planting, and the Kiwanis Club of Rostrevor-Campbelltown kept everyone fuelled with a BBQ lunch.
We were also delighted to have Magill Scout Group, Stradbroke Scout Group and Sri Sathya Sai Global Council Australia join us and get involved on the day.
Delivered in partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia, the event is part of our ongoing work to create greener urban spaces, improve habitat and biodiversity, and give our community opportunities to get involved in caring for their local environment.
A huge thank you to everyone who planted, decorated, learned, shared and helped make the day such a success. Watching 2,200 seedlings transform the site in only a few hours was pretty special!
