Your Bins

Council provides one set of three wheelie bins per property:

  • A 140 litre bin with a blue lid for general waste, collected weekly
  • A 240 litre bin with a yellow lid for recyclables, collected fortnightly
  • A 240 litre bin with a green lid for green organics, collected fortnightly

Missed bins can be reported online, directly to Council's contractor East Waste.

Report a Missed Bin

Whilst East Waste endeavor to pick up every bin, every time, there are reasons why your bin(s) may not have been collected:

  • Presented late for collection (place out by 6:00am on the day of collection)
  • Overfull (lid must be closed)
  • Too heavy (60kg maximum)
  • Packed too tightly for items to fall into the truck
  • Contaminated with unacceptable materials (check which bin it goes in)
  • Situated on a vacant block (except green waste bin)
  • Obstructed by a parked car, tree or other obstacle (allow for 1 metre clearance between other bins and any obstacles)
  • Facing the wrong direction and/or not on the edge of the kerb (ensure bins are facing towards the road, with wheels towards the house)
  • Damaged bin
  • Unauthorised additional bin

Broken bins (wheels and lids) can be reported online, directly to Council's contractor East Waste. East Waste will contact you to arrange a day and time for you to leave the bin out on the kerb for repair.

Request a Bin Repair

Council provides one set of three wheelie bins per property.

If a bin is damaged beyond repair, missing or stolen it will need to be replaced at the residents expense.  Please contact Mastec on 8259 9700 to organise a new bin to be delivered to your home. Alternatively you can purchase a second hand bin providing it meets the Council requirements outlined above.

Should the bin be damaged by Council's contractor during collection, please contact East Waste 8347 5111 or east@eastwaste.com.  If the bin has fallen into the collection vehicle, East Waste will organise a new bin to be delivered.

Housing SA Properties

If your bin is lost or stolen and you are living in a Housing SA (trust) Property, Housing SA will replace bins if you have a Police report number. Contact your local Police Station to report the theft, then contact Housing SA on 131 299 and ask for the Maintenance Department.

Rental Properties

If you are a tenant, please contact your Landlord or the Property Manager to arrange for a new bin to be delivered. It will be up to them to purchase a new bin.

Council will provide new bins to newly built or subdivided properties.

To request new bins, complete the online request form or contact Council on 8366 9222.

Request New Bins

Residents can apply to have a second or subsequent kerbside bin (blue landfill bin, yellow recycling bin and/or green organics bin) where exceptional circumstances can be demonstrated.

Before considering an additional bin, think about minimising your waste production by avoiding, reducing and re-using. If you apply, someone from Council may contact you to discuss your waste management.

Applications must be made annually and charges may apply.

Apply for an Additional Kerbside Bin Permit

Bins are not permitted to be left on a footpath or road for more than 48 hours after a resident's designated collection day per Council By-Law 3.

Bins left out past 48 hours can be reported online or on 8366 9222.
