Upcoming works in Wadmore Park
New signage for the park
Visitors to Wadmore Park will notice a range of works installed to introduce and support a new immersive loop trail. The signage will help guide visitors through key areas of the park, highlight local biodiversity, and encourage people to engage more deeply with the natural ecosystem.
The signage removal and installation will be progressively happening in amongst the rain!
The Wadmore Arch in Maryvale Carpark has been reinstalled to include the Kaurna name for the park – Pulyonna Wirra, which means black forest.
The upgrade of signages in the park were endorsed at meeting in February 2025.
Path upgrades and erosion control
To improve trail conditions and manage erosion, particularly ahead of wetter seasons, Council will be undertaking the following works over the coming months:
- Upgrades to the eastern fire track
- Improvements to stormwater management systems
- Works to improve swale function
- Management of stormwater from neighbouring properties into the swale to reduce erosion impacts
- Clearing of litter and ensuring overflow drains are operating effectively
Community planting and habitat restoration
Council is continuing to support local biodiversity conservation initiatives within Wadmore Park.
Campbelltown Landcare Group have received a Grassroots Grant in 2025/26 through Green Adelaide to trial and expand the drought-tolerant native grassland. Get along to one of their working bees to learn more about their work!
In addition, Rewilding Fifth Creek planting activities delivered in partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia will continue along Fifth Creek as part of broader efforts to restore this natural corridor. Check out available planting events to get involved.
What to expect
During these works, there may be some temporary disruptions within sections of the park. Council will aim to minimise impacts wherever possible and appreciates the Community’s patience while these important improvements are completed.
These upgrades reflect Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, sustainable, and well-managed open spaces for the Community to enjoy.
Completed as of August 2026
Asbestos identified and contained
Over time, a small section of underground asbestos piping was becoming exposed. Council carried out important works to safely cover and contain this section, and laid a new pipe without damaging trees growing nearby.
To allow safe access for this work, one track was slightly widened and minor vegetation clearing took place. These measures will help minimise environmental risk and ensure the area remains safe for park users.
SA Water upgrades
SA Water cathodic protection works has been completed. These works are part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance to protect underground assets and ensure long-term service reliability, and shouldn't impact future use of the park.
