Personal Achievement Grants

There are TWO categories of Personal Achievement Grant, open all year round:

  1. Personal Achievement Grant (Sport and Recreation)
  2. Personal Achievement Grant (Cultural or Academia)

How to Apply for a Personal Achievement Grant

Before applying, read through the relevant guidelines below to ensure that you are eligible to apply.

Personal Achievement Grant applications are open all year round but must be received before event/activity commences.

Aim of Grant

To recognise the personal achievement of individuals who have been selected on their merit and are representing South Australia or Australia in State, National or International competitions, activities and events.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be residents of the City of Campbelltown
  • Have not already received funding in the current financial year
  • Be competing in a state, national or international event
  • Have gone through a selection process by the organisation the applicant is competing for
  • Provide a supporting letter outlining the selection process on the official letterhead of the organisation
  • Be competing for a community based Club or Group (not a School team unless the School team is representing South Australia or Australia)
  • Be amateur level (not a professional development or scouting opportunity).

Ineligible Applicants

  • Where the event focuses on professional development, such as a coaching clinic or to showcase talent for scouting / recruitment purposes or where the program / schedule is largely social events.
  • Where a community based club, group or organisation self-nominates/ chooses to participate in an open competition or activity without qualifying/winning an opportunity to participate.

Conditions

  • Applicants are eligible to receive funding for a maximum of one event per financial year (determined by commencement date of event).
  • Grant applications must be received before commencement of the event.
  • Applicants are required to complete a Personal Achievement Grant Recipient Report within one month of the completion of the event. If a report is not received by this date, the grant will be revoked.
  • Successful grant applications will be paid once the event has been completed and a Recipient Report has been submitted to Council.
    If you are experiencing financial hardship and require funds to be paid prior to the event rather than as a reimbursement following the event, please contact us.
  • Approval is subject to annual budgetary limitations.

It should be noted that the short stories, photos or quotes from the report may be used in a Council publication including social media

Available Funds

One grant per financial year will be available to an individual as follows:

  • $100 - Event held in South Australia
  • $200 - Event held interstate
  • $400 - Event held overseas

    • International Aid Project
    • Cultural Tour to a Campbelltown Sister City & Friendship City (Paduli, Italy and/ or Oyster Bay, USA)
    • Cultural activities/ events (music, theatre, art etc)
    • Academic competitions/ events (not a School team unless the School team is representing South Australia or Australia)
  • Provide a supporting letter outlining the selection process on the official letterhead of the organisation

Ineligible Applicants

  • Where the event focuses on professional development
  • Educational Study Tours

Conditions

  • Applicants are eligible to receive funding for a maximum of one event per financial year (determined by commencement date of event).
  • Grant applications must be received before commencement of the event.
  • Applicants are required to complete a Personal Achievement Grant Recipient Report about their participation in the competition and how they used their grant after the event is completed.
  • Successful grant applications will be paid once the event has been completed and a Recipient Report has been submitted to Council.

  • A 15-year-old from Magill attended the Tokyo Paralympic Games as the youngest member of the Australian Paralympic team. She won a silver medal in the 4 x 100m Freestyle 34 point relay and a bronze medal in the 4 x 100m Medley 34 point relay. The PAG assisted in covering some of the costs to attend the event.
  • A 19-year-old from Rostrevor attended the World Youth Climbing Championships in Italy to compete in the speed climbing event, where he represented Australia and achieved a new personal best.
  • A 16-year-old from Paradise attended the Ritsumeikan Global Summit in Japan along with 3 other students representing Australia, and numerous other students representing 6 other countries around the world. During the summit, each school had to give a cultural performance, for this cultural exchange he did a performance on the bagpipes.
  • A 12-year-old from Campbelltown played Chess board no-3 in the tournament as part of the East Marden Primary School open team, representing SA. He and his team came second at the National level.
  • A 17-year-old from Athelstone was selected to attend the London International Youth Science Forum as part of a contingent of 36 other science-minded Australians. The Forum focussed on international collaboration and crossing barriers – whether interdisciplinary or between countries – and to that end called the top 500 STEM students from over 72 countries worldwide to attend.
  • A 22-year-old from Athelstone attended the Global Battle of the Bands World Final in Romania, Bucharest as part of the Global Battle of The Bands competition
  • A 15-year-old from Rostrevor attended The UN Youth National Conference, a week-long conference, where they learnt from experts in international relations, participated in interactive workshops, and debated questions of global importance, centered around the theme 'Age of Information'..
  • 21-year-old from Rostrevor attended the annual Dance on Camera Film Festival, at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Their documentary profiled a famous dance from and was the opening film of the festival.
