Max Amber

Max Amber, who began his career with insurance brokers United Insurance Company and JH Minette, stepped into public life in 1969 when he was elected to the Campbelltown Council as a representative for Gorge Ward.

Max Amber fondly recalls his tenure as Mayor, highlighting two key achievements that stand out as his proudest moments. The first was working closely with David Wotton, then South Australia's Minister for the Environment, to secure the future of Thorndon Park as a cherished community asset. The second was his pivotal role in commissioning the historical book 'The River to the Hills', a comprehensive chronicle of Campbelltown’s rich history, researched and written by historian Elizabeth Warburton.
