Past CEOs, Town Clerks, and District Clerks

The District Council of Campbelltown was proclaimed on 26th February 1868.

The first District Clerk was John Strawbridge, senior, who held the same position with the former District Council of Payneham since 1857. He was instrumental in the establishment of the District Council of Campbelltown in 1868, and was appointed District Clerk ‘pro tem’ prior to its formation.

When the District became a Municipality on 11th April 1946, the position changed to Town Clerk. Percy Pugh Wilson was the first Town Clerk, although he was absent due to ill health for most of 1946 and 1947, before resigning in September 1947. Changes to the regulations required the appointment of a Certified Town Clerk after this date.

Campbelltown was proclaimed a City on 26th February 1960, effective 6th May 1960. The position of Town Clerk was reclassified to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 1992. Wayne Maurice Garrett appointed CEO elect 1st August 1992, then CEO effective 13th March 1993.
