Consultation has concluded

Project Update Summary (November 2022)

During 2020 Both Campbelltown and Adelaide Hills Councils conducted community consultation to understand the level of Community support for a Council boundary change. At its meeting on 6 April 2021, Council resolved to:

  • note the outcomes of the consultations undertaken by McGregor Tan with residents in the Adelaide Hills Council area and the outcomes of the consultation undertaken with City of Campbelltown residents and ratepayers
  • request Staff to prepare a Stage 2 Submission to the Boundaries Commission with respect to the boundary realignment between Campbelltown Council and Adelaide Hills Council.

Council Staff have since prepared the Stage 2 Proposal. The Boundaries Commission has reviewed Council’s Stage 2 Proposal and determined that an inquiry into the Proposal may proceed in accordance with Section 31 of the Act and Guideline 4 – Investigations of General Proposals Initiated by Councils

The next step is for the Boundaries Commission to provide a cost estimate to council for them to conduct the inquiry. Once this cost estimate has been received Council will need to make a decision as to whether they think the quote is fair and reasonable, and whether they are willing to pay the amount. The Boundaries Commission will not proceed with the inquiry until they receive clear direction from Council to do so.

An inquiry does not mean that the Boundary realignment will occur.  The inquiry will consider the proposed boundary realignment and consult with the relevant communities.  Once the Boundaries Commission has considered its findings it will make a recommendation to the Local Government Minister who will then make the final decision about whether a realignment will or will not occur.

Background

Council is investigating the possibility of moving its boundary to include Woodforde and part of Rostrevor. Changing the Council boundary would enable residents and ratepayers in these locations to have close access to Council’s services and facilities. They could also help to influence and shape delivery of our services and facilities. Residents in the impacted area probably already attend local schools, belong to local sporting or other clubs, shop, work or play in the area. It makes sense that they might like to formally become part of our Community.
