Max Amber Sportsfield Redevelopment

Following a consultation process and the development of the Max Amber Sportsfield Master Plan, redevelopment of the Paradise site is now underway. The Max Amber Sportsfield project incorporates a diverse range of the Athelstone sporting community; football, cricket, tennis, soccer and now netball.

Council has received contributions from both the Federal Government's Community Development Grants program, the State Government's "Grass Roots Football, Cricket and Netball Facilities" program, and the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund to assist funding of the project.

Construction of this exciting community project has commenced in late January 2021.

The project has five key guiding principles;

  1. A community heart
  2. Club home
  3. Inclusive and accessible
  4. Sustainable environmentally and economically
  5. Sportsfield in a natural setting

The sportsfield facilities will contribute to delivering a quality lifestyle through encouraging participation in sport and/or physical activity programs whilst creating spaces encouraging passive leisure and recreational activities. The establishment of new netball courts close to the proposed sporting hub facility ensures social inclusiveness and equality.

During a time of climate change the project will deliver a Five Star ‘Greenstar’ environmentally sustainable development ensuring the project remains sustainable and efficient for future generations.With the projects connection to country the main building has been given local indigenous significance and named Wayikuu.
