Campbelltown Repair Cafe

A Repair Café is a place where you can take your broken household items and learn how to fix them yourself - with the help of expert volunteer repairers, for free!

Repair Cafés are also ‘meeting places’ – which is where the ‘café’ bit comes in!

Why have Repair Cafes?

Repair Cafés are more than just getting things fixed – they are also about:

  • sharing knowledge and skills
  • reducing waste and landfill
  • saving money
  • living a more sustainable life
  • promoting a sharing community
  • enjoying cups of tea
  • making friends and creating community

The Campbelltown Repair Café

In May 2020, Council staff started worked with interested community members and groups to trial and establish the Campbelltown Repair Café.

Since February 2021 the Campbelltown Repair Café has been running independently and is now completely community led and managed. There is a Coordinator supported by a Coordinating Committee consisting of 4 lead members as well as volunteer repairers and support volunteers.

How it Works and What to Expect

“All the volunteers are lovely, very helpful and kind. Very good initiative for recycling and reducing the carbon print on earth. Greatly indebted to kindness of all the lovely people here.”

  • Ensure your items are clean.
  • Register your item at the front desk. You can only register one item at a time.
  • Volunteer Guide directs you to the allocated repair station and introduces you to the Repairer. The Guide will inform you if there is a waiting list and estimated waiting period.
  • When it’s your turn, you sit with the repairer whilst your item is being fixed. The volunteer repairers are very friendly and love to chat!
  • You can leave a donation if you want – this helps the Repair Café to operate.
  • The repairer completes the item registration form. There is also space on the form for you to leave feedback.
  • If you have other items for repair you can return to the Registration Desk.

The House Rules also give and idea of what to expect.

Monetary donations appreciated to keep the Repair Café operating.
