Reconciliation in the Campbelltown Community

Stradbroke School OSHC

Stradbroke School OSHC (Kids’ Zone) has embedded reconciliation into their program.  As well as including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and sporting games (https://sport.nsw.gov.au/clubs/training/tig is a great resource for finding these) the service has invited members of the community to run experiences such as dot canvas painting, dreamtime story shows and artefacts shows. The service include Indigenous perspectives when decision making, an example of this is the inclusion of regular creek walks and nature play in the program.

The service celebrates important reconciliation dates such as NAIDOC Week and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. As part of these celebrations, the children made an acknowledgment of country and a vision statement which is part of their Reconciliation Action Plan.  If other services would like to make a Reconciliation Action Plan they can visit https://www.narragunnawali.org.au/raps/what-is-a-rap

Stradbroke School OSHC - Reconciliation

Goodstart Campbelltown

The Kindy children at Goodstart Campbelltown have been working hard on their Kaurna Acknowledgment during Reconciliation and NAIDOC Week 2018.  Using the resources on www.reconciliation.org.au the children developed their ideas and have drafted this Acknowledgment of Country.
