Roads and Traffic

Roads

Council constructs and maintains roads throughout our city.

Road Management

To preserve the life of roads, they are resealed on a regular basis. Most low traffic roads are resealed using a chip seal which has loose stones on the road surface for about a month after the resealing process. This does give rise to some complaints but is a very cost effective method of road maintenance. It also promotes reduced traffic speed due to the increased tyre noise within vehicles using the surface.

Please report any damage to roads or kerbing to Council on 8366 9222.

Traffic Management

Council has adopted a Traffic Management Strategy which sets target standards for all roads in the city. Where these standards are exceeded the strategy provides for the implementation, in conjunction with the community, of traffic management measures to achieve targets.
