Campbelltown City Council is a proud participant of the Small Business Friendly Council Initiative, signing the Small Business Friendly Council Charter on 6 October 2020. The Small Business Friendly Council Charter is an initiative of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner developed to enhance engagement between Council and local small businesses.

Council is committed to supporting and working with local small businesses and encourage the business community to engage with Council when opportunities arise. The principles behind the Small Business Friendly Council Initiative are aligned to Council's Economic Development Plan and they enhance Council's focus to achieve these goals including developing the local economy and advancing job opportunities to create a City that is an attractive place for people to live, work and grow.

The Small Business Friendly Council Initiative Charter Agreement outlines that Council is committed to:

  1. Implementing activities to improve the operating environment for small business within Council’s area.
  2. Establishing a business advisory group (if one does not already exist) to assist Council’s understanding of small business in its area;
  3. Implementing a procurement policy which recognises and supports local small businesses wherever possible.
  4. Paying undisputed invoices from small businesses within 30 days.
  5. Implementing a timely and cost effective dispute resolution process to manage disputes.

Mayor Jill Whittaker said it was more important than ever for Council to show its support to local businesses:
“We are committed to making it easier for small businesses across the City to do business with us and with others, and to strengthen our ongoing support to the hundreds of Campbelltown’s small businesses who help make our City an amazing place”.

Chief Executive Officer Paul Di Iulio agreed: “In addition to our commitment to the Small Business Friendly Council Initiative, Council has introduced a range of COVID-19 support initiatives for businesses, and has also recently established an ongoing annual Small Business Grants program aimed at helping new and established businesses in Campbelltown to grow and thrive”.
