Age Friendly Community

Campbelltown City Council was one of the first 5 Councils in South Australia to become an age friendly community.  This involved undertaking a self assessment and planning to make improvements.

The five pillars of being an age friendly community include:

  1. Physical Environment
    This pillar looks at how the physical environment supports people to age well including footpaths, crossings, ramps,  open space, outdoor furniture, lighting, safety, car parking and facilities.
  2. Health, Wellbeing and Services
    Access to health information and health services, access to free computers and internet, lifelong learning, transport, home support services, social programs.
  3. Housing
    Housing suitability, housing mix, supported housing, new models of housing, housing modifications.
  4. Participation
    Council events, intergenerational activities, employment, volunteering, caring, community engagement and consultation, social inclusion and accessibility of services, opportunities to participate and connect.
  5. Planning
    How Council plans to support people to age well in Campbelltown.
