2024 Women of Campbelltown - Thea Matto

"Be yourself because everyone else is taken."

Thea and her parents and brothers arrived in Adelaide in 1958 from the Netherlands, settling in Kensington Park. Her love for fashion led to a career in the retail industry including assisting breast cancer survivors and women of all ages and abilities to select their most appropriate intimate apparel; a position she held for 25 years.

Thea and her husband, Lee, moved to Campbelltown when they both retired in 2015.

Thea’s love of music and dance were the catalyst for her to organise the Moving to Music dance and movement classes. Beginning with just eight mature age participants of all levels of ability, there are now at least 50 women moving each week to all genres of music and dance, providing each other with joy and friendship.
