2024 Women of Campbelltown - Marianne Riccio

"When all the world is a hopeless jumble, let music fill your soul."

Marianne’s life took a whole new turn when she wanted to learn to sing two love songs to surprise her husband on their 40th wedding anniversary. This led her on the most remarkable journey to find her voice and start a 20 year career in singing and performing.

At 57 yo Marianne studied a Certificate 3 in Music at the University of Adelaide where she trained professionally and now sings a wide genre of music including Jazz, Pop, Broadway and Opera. Marianne is a whirl of colour as she travels across Adelaide to perform, including in residential care homes as she knows the power the music has for the residents.

She has produced a CD, written a book and show ‘Rainbow Land: a place where music lives’ which she has performed at Fringe Festival and Charity Balls.

On reflection, Marianne wishes she found music earlier and imagines where it may have taken her.
