2024 Women of Campbelltown - Kristy Schirmer

"Don’t limit yourself, aim high, be ambitious."

Kristy, a dedicated public health professional, founded Thorndon Junior parkrun, South Australia’s first Junior parkrun event for 4–14-year-olds and their families, held every Sunday morning at Thorndon Park.

Raised in Cambrai, she discovered her passion for health promotion during high school and pursued a Bachelor of Health Sciences. Kristy gained valuable experience working in harm reduction and public health programs in South Australia and the UK, in addition to completing her Master of Public Health. Roles with SA Health and Cancer Council expanded her reach in health promotion.

Recognising the potential of social media, she established Zockmelon Consulting and later co-founded the Australian Public Health Consultants Network.

With health, inclusion, child development and community as core values, Kristy is committed to community wellbeing as demonstrated through her advocacy for initiatives like parkrun.
