Flexible Working Arrangements

We understand that 9-5 doesn’t suit everyone and recognise the benefits of a flexible working environment. We offer a range of flexible work options that can be requested/considered by our staff, these include:

Leave Arrangements

A wide range of paid and unpaid leave options are available to assist employees in managing both the personal and professional aspects of their lives. Our leave arrangements are also designed to meet legislative, Enterprise Agreement and operational requirements:

In addition to the above leave entitlements staff also have the option to access up to  additional 4 weeks purchased leave per year.

Eligible full-time field staff have access to a fortnightly  Rostered Day Off (RDO) and eligible full-time administration staff have access to a monthly RDO. These RDO’s allow staff to attend to personal matters (such as doctors or dentist appointments) during work time.

Parental Leave Payment

Feel supported as a parent, take advantage of our parental leave entitlements, these include:

  • 2 weeks partner leave
  • 6 weeks paid parental leave

Following a period of service and applies to eligible staff.

Extended Carer’s / Professional Development Leave

Staff are also supported to apply for a period of unpaid leave (up to 24 months for admin staff & up to 6 months for field staff) to enable them to care for an immediate family member or so they can expand on their professional development. At the end of this period of leave the staff member is able to return to their previous role/normal duties.

This leave can be applied for following a period of service and only applies to eligible staff.

Learning and Development

We provide a supportive environment and encourage the development of our staff knowledge and skills. On the job training is provided with opportunities for professional and personal development. Council supports staff development by offering staff the opportunity to partake in the following initiatives:

Income Protection

Staff are able to purchase income protection (at their own expense) and the Local Government Income Protection Fund is set up specifically for local government employees in South Australia and offers competitive rates and benefits.

Bullying and Harassment Contact Officers

Contact Officers are available to ensure staff feel supported and, have someone to talk to.

Return to Work Assistance

An early intervention program and rehabilitation process are in place to manage both work related illness or injury and any significant personal illness or injury.

Uniforms / Personal Protective Equipment

Uniforms and tools of trade are supplied to Council Staff in positions that require them (e.g. customer facing and field staff). Staff in positions that do not require them to wear a uniform are also provided with the opportunity to purchase a corporate uniform, and Council will advance up to $1,000 per year towards this.

Administration staff are encouraged to dress casually on Fridays by wearing their Campbelltown City Council polo shirts and jeans

Campbelltown is also committed to workplace safety and Personal Protective Equipment is provided to all employees, as required.

Salary Sacrifice

Staff are able to access a variety of salary sacrifice options, these include novated leases (through Utopia) and additional superannuation contributions.

Our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) recognises staff efforts and contributions to our community by sharing good news stories, celebrating successes and promoting upcoming events in the CEO’s Memo which is distributed to staff once a month.

Social Club Activities

Like to be social and engage with others in the organisation? Our Social Club runs up to 6 events throughout the year which enables staff to get to know each other in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All staff are able to become members for $5 per fortnight.

Free Onsite Parking

Park hassle free.  Our various locations are accessible via car or bike, and staff have access to free car parking available on site.

All of our Council locations provide easy access to public transport - Our main council office and public library are located across from each other on Montacute Road.  Our field operations centre (Depot) is located on the corner of Newton Road and Weymouth street, Campbelltown. The Aquatic Recreation Centre (ARC) is on Lower North East Road, Campbelltown.

Facilities

All staff facilities include kitchen amenities and lunch rooms.
