Age Friendly Community
Campbelltown City Council was one of the first 5 Councils in South Australia to become an age friendly community. This involved undertaking a self assessment and planning to make improvements.
The five pillars of being an age friendly community include:
- Physical Environment
This pillar looks at how the physical environment supports people to age well including footpaths, crossings, ramps, open space, outdoor furniture, lighting, safety, car parking and facilities. - Health, Wellbeing and Services
Access to health information and health services, access to free computers and internet, lifelong learning, transport, home support services, social programs. - Housing
Housing suitability, housing mix, supported housing, new models of housing, housing modifications. - Participation
Council events, intergenerational activities, employment, volunteering, caring, community engagement and consultation, social inclusion and accessibility of services, opportunities to participate and connect. - Planning
