What is the Social Plan 2020?

The Social Plan 2020 is one of Council's four Strategic Plans and has been prepared to ensure consistency with Council’s Strategic Plan (2010-2020).

The Social Plan 2020 is primarily a 'people plan' which identifies the strengths, aspirations, hopes and gaps within the Council area that influence people's quality of life. It provides a strategic direction and sets priority actions for the coming five years. It also includes  12 month action plans which are reviewed every 6 months and updated annually to meet the objectives of the Social Plan 2020.

How It Came About

In 2013 and 2014 Council undertook a large research project into what made strong and resilient communities.  We spoke to over 2000 people aged 3-103yo about living in Campbelltown.  This provided the 'story' of living in Campbelltown.

The findings have been drawn together in the 'Social Plan Discussion Paper'.  The discussion paper then informed the preparation of the Social Plan 2020 which highlights the existing strenths of the Campbelltown Council area, but also areas for development.

What people love most about living in the area:

  • the natural environment
  • the location close to facilities and shops and the City
  • the local connections, friendships and networks they have

Key Themes and Focus Areas

The Social Plan 2020 is based on 5 themes that capture what the community told us should be in the Plan.  The Campbelltown City Council area is:

  • A liveable Community
  • A Vibrant Community
  • A connected Community
  • A healthy Community
  • A supported & informed Community

Focusing on these themes will ensure that Campbelltown City Council will be an even better place to live.
