TOGNINI, Pietro and Anita

Pietro Primo Tognini was born in Colorina Prov. Sondrio on 8 November 1901 and Anita Genoveffa Tognini was born in Colorina on 26 October 1907. They were married in a Colorina on 1 May 1924 and their first daughter Lina was born in 1926. My father migrated to Australia in 1926 the ship berthed in Brisbane and he travelled by train to Ingham North Queensland. Dad worked in the cane fields working long hours in a primitive environment, Mum joined him in Ingham in January 1934. Marisa was born in 1934, Anita 1938, Ezio 1939.

During the war years in 1942 there were rumors of a Japanese invasion, so the family home was sold and we moved to Waikerie to live. A few years later they moved to Adelaide, where in 1948 he purchased 3 blocks of land, corner of Home and Provident Avenue, Glynde. Temporary accommodation was provided until the home was built in 1954.

In 1973 the home was sold, they moved to Dernancourt. The house was eventually demolished to make way for a Printing Press Firm.

Pietro Primo Tognini died 9 November 1982 aged 81, Anita Genoveffa Tognini 26 April 1980 aged 72. Survived by their 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grand children.
