Mc COOKE, John and Heather

John, Heather and baby daughter Bridie boarded the SS New Australia on her maiden voyage to Sydney on 15 August 1950, arriving in Sydney September 1950. We then travelled to a migrant camp in Bathurst, New South Wales where we were designated by Government agencies to settle in South Australia.

John was in the building trade and was needed in South Australia. After a few months in Rosewater Hostel John was posted to Woomera. In early 1951 we purchased land in Campbelltown and in 1953 John built our house at Acacia Avenue. Two more daughters (Heather and Sally) were born here.

Sadly John passed away in 1999 aged 80.
