GIROLAMO, Raffaele and Luigia (Coronara)

Raffaele Girolamo, son of Giuseppe Girolamo and Carmela Cirocco, left Italy from Molinara on the 6th January 1956 from Naples. Travelling by ship (Neptunia) to Melbourne, he then travelled by train to Adelaide, arriving on the 3rd February 1956. Raffaele stayed with friends in Campbelltown for two and a half years before moving to Jervois Avenue, Magill.

During this time, Raffaele was employed as a bricklayer and built his own home after hours. Raffaele was married by proxy to Luigia Borrillo (Daughter of Giovanni Borrillo and Reparata D'onofrio) on the 17th of August, 1957.

Luigia left for Australia on the 3rd of October, 1959 (Oceania) and arrived in Adelaide on the 3rd of November 1959. The newlyweds were blessed by Fr Romano and celebrated with family and friends at their new home on Gladstone Avenue, Magill.

Raffaele retired after 42 years in business (Mexican bricklayer), Raffaele and Luigia had two sons, Giuseppe and Giovanni. Both sons now have families, giving Luigia and Raffaele eight grandchildren.
