Giorgio Gagliardi was born on 16 April 1937. He left Naples, aboard the 'Oceania' on 2 August 1956 and arrived in Adelaide, Australia on 1 September 1956. He stayed with friends at Glynde and commenced work for Marble Cement as a general hand.
He remained with Marble Cement for many years and later set up his own business working until retirement at 65 years of age in 2002.
He married Maria Mazzone in 1961.
