CAPORALETTI, Enrico and Lina

Enrico Caporaletti and Lina Caporaletti originally were from the Marche region of Italy. They married and settled in Termoli (Province of Campobasso).

In 1960 together with their two young sons Mario and Robert they set sail from the port of Napoli on the passenger liner Sydney - Flotta-Lauro, heading for a new land of promise called Australia. The voyage took 28 days, some pleasant and some not so pleasant.

Enrico was sponsored to Australia by his younger brother, Paul Caporaletti, who had already settled in Australia a few years earlier.

Their first port of call was Fremantle, then on to Melbourne, and finally by train to Adelaide.

Enrico then 39 and Lina 28 found it very difficult initially and had many thoughts of returning back to Italy. But both managed to find work within a short period of time through the Italian community network and were determined to make Adelaide their new home, working very hard during the day, and always looking for extra work on weekends.

Within two years they had purchased land in Brooklyn Park and had built their new home and life in general in this new land improved year by year.

Enrico and Lina are now both retired, but still live in their first home at Brooklyn Park.

Their two sons, Mario and Robert, both attended university and graduated in Engineering and Medical Science, married and both have two children.
