What is the Online Community Panel?

The Online Community Panel is another way in which the local community can participate in Council's decision-making process. It provides an opportunity for residents to express their thoughts, ideas and concerns on a range of topics.

Your feedback and input ensures your voice is heard.

Members of the Panel are invited via email to respond to 4 to 6 surveys each year; most take only a few minutes to complete. Information provided by the Panel helps Council to better understand community views and to make important decisions about the City's future.

Panel Members also go into regular draws to win prizes and receive an electronic newsletter highlighting a summary of the results of the surveys, and the extent to which your feedback has impacted on Council decisions.

Why an Online Community Panel?

Community consultation is an important part of the way Local Government operates, however sometimes traditional consultation methods don't allow people to participate because of the times or locations they are held.

The Online Panel is a convenient and cost effective method to obtain community input on a range of topics and themes relating to Council and the local community. Many other metropolitan councils successfully run Online Panels to obtain community input into decision making processes.

What sort of issues will I be asked about?

The Online Panel is used to seek information on Council's strategic directions. Topics may be about the provision of Council services, Council's annual budget, the environment or community assets and facilities. Council may also seek feedback in relation to important local issues which arise throughout the year.
