Eastern HOPE (Healthy Options for Physical activity and Eating) is an exciting new initiative for the City of Campbelltown and the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters to promote living a healthy and active lifestyle for older adults in our community. Eastern HOPE will do this by providing opportunities to be physically active and to encourage healthy eating.

 

Eastern HOPE Programs and Activities

Life Exercise Program

Get active and learn about a range of health topics by joining the Life Exercise Program facilitated by ACH Group.

This is a 10-week Physical Activity and Lifestyle Program run by qualified health providers. This program is ideal for people over 60 years. Sessions run for one-hour occurring twice per week. Nominal cost of $2 per session. Morning tea will be provided.

This program will be commencing on

  • 29th April 2013 at Life Care (230 Payneham Road, Payneham). Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-11am
  • 30th April 2013 at the Campbelltown Leisure Centre (Botanic Grove, Campbelltown). Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-11am

Heart Foundation Walking

Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest network of free community based walking groups led by volunteer community members. It’s fun and social - you can start or join a local group today!

Healthy Eating, Activity & Lifestyle™ (HEAL™) program 
 

An 8-week Physical Activity and Lifestyle Program run by an exercise physiologist.  A small cost is involved and there will be morning tea provided.

  • Payneham Community Centre, Fridays 10am-12pm, 31st May til 19th July
  • Campbelltown Leisure Centre, Fridays 2pm - 4pm, 31st May til 19th July

Attend a Healthy Eating Supermarket Tour

The purpose of this project is to share knowledge with community members and to make healthy eating education freely available and accessible.

Be guided through the supermarket by one of the trained local volunteers and learn about the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, reading food labels, comparing products and making healthier food choices at the supermarket. The information given is applicable to the general population and is consistent with the National Dietary Guidelines for Australians.

Participants will receive a free take-home kit with resources, a label reading wallet card, a magnifying card and how to access further information.

Tours will commence in March with various locations and dates within Campbelltown City Council and Norwood Payneham & St Peters City Council areas.
